This episode of the series “Louisiana Legends” from May 12, 1999, features an interview with Bill Conti conducted by Gus Weill. Conti, an alumnus of LSU, is a film and television composer, best known for writing the score for the film “Rocky.” He won an Academy Award in 1983 for the score from the film “The Right Stuff.” He discusses: studying music at LSU; playing music while living in Italy; the language of music; the musical background of his family; writing the “Rocky” theme; his role as a conductor; the feeling of hearing someone conducting his song; and the difference between writing music for television and movies.
