Le travail de Bill Conti fut reconnu à plusieurs reprises par les plud hautes instances d'Hollywood. Nominé à plusieurs reprises, c'est pour le score épique de "The Rigth Stuff" qu'il se vera attribuer la statuette d'or devant les grands Jerry Goldsmith et John Willams. Une récompense, très méritée pour ce musicien de talent qui avait déjà atteint les summums de la perfection musicale avec FIST de Norman Jewinson en 1977. Conti fut honoré par la suite de plusieurs Emmy awards© et notamment pour ses directions d'orchestre lors des divers cérémonies des Oscars© d'Hollywood qu'il dirigea 18 fois avec brio et dynamisme. Passionné par son art mais égamement par celui des autres, il n'hésitera pas, lors des cérémonies à rendre hommage à toute l'histoire de la musique de film et des acteurs. Compositeur, musicien mais aussi manager d'artistes et d'acteurs, son rôle lors des préparations, dépassa son activité de directeur musicale. Homme pointilleux et flexible, Conti fut pour les organisateurs des programmes, "un collaborateur" d'excellence ! certaines compositions audacieuses et des arrangements sur-mesures lui vaudront de nouvelles reconnaissances du millieu.
Bill Conti fut directeur musical de la Cérémonie à 18 reprises.
